If you want to go out to dinner with friends or family there is certainly no shortage of restaurants for you to pick from. There are huge chain restaurants probably located right around the corner giving you a convenient and sometimes decent place to have a meal. But if you’re a bit of a foodie and would rather have an excellent dining experience then you are better off in an independent restaurant. The service is better outside the chain restaurants and you can have a meal from an experienced chef with a real love of good food.
Attention to Detail
When you go to one of the independent restaurants in town not only do you get some great food but you’ll find that the staff pays great attention to the details. Make no mistake when you head to Red Lobster or one of those restaurants they will do their best to make sure that you enjoy the experience after all that is part of company’s marketing scheme. Privately owned restaurants don’t have head office spending millions on advertising to bring customers in so they work harder to keep you coming back again and again.
Accommodating to Customers
Privately owned restaurants are typically owner operated and they are more inclined to do whatever it takes to meet your requests. Whether you want a special table for an anniversary or a private space for a family party they will do their best to make it happen.
They are also pretty easy going when it comes to things like dietary requests or special orders. These restaurants have a chef on staff who doesn’t prepare your food until you order making it easier for them to accommodate you. Chain restaurants can do the same but only up to a point, much of their food is premade limiting how much they can make changes.
Chain restaurants also have a pretty high staff turnover, with many working their way through college or using the job as a stepping stone to something else. Owner operated restaurants tend to keep their staff longer and train them better when it comes to food preparation and wine pairings.
Experience a Different Culture
Many of the owner operated restaurants offer ethnic cuisine from around the world. It is a great chance to try new foods from different cultures. Try different spice palettes and learn about different customs from dinner tables around the world.
The next time you are pondering your dinner choice, try something different and patronize one of the family owned restaurants in your community.
